About Boat Day
Boat Day is built in Kittery, Maine, by a boat owner who's scraped his share of barnacles and waited out his share of yard callbacks. It's here to help you buy, keep, and actually use your boat, and to point you to local help without the runaround. More days that feel like why you bought the boat.
Owners stay free forever. No paywalls on Joy, no dark patterns, no invented reviews. We make money from the yards and pros side of things, never by charging you a toll to go boating. See Trust.
Where we start
We're starting on the Seacoast, Kittery and the Piscataqua, right on the Maine and New Hampshire line. Cards labeled Find them online open real yards and marinas on their own sites — helpful pointers to reach them. Find ≠ founding: those cards are not Boat Day partners. Founding partners join by handshake at /suppliers/join. If the founding list is empty, it says so. We won't pad it.
How we show up
- Warm, short, cast-off voice — Joy first; burden only as what we shrink.
- Advisory, not legal, tax, or insurance advice. State rules get called out.
- Demo seed stays labeled. Founding partners are handshakes, not fake stars.
- Honest empty — no invented partners, reviews, or live Seacoast metrics.
- Safety stays serious — never a joke about the people aboard.
What we are not
- A classifieds marketplace (peer boat days live at /rent)
- An insurer, lender, or broker ourselves
- A global rulebook for every waterway
- A chartplotter — we complement the apps you already run; honest self-eval on /software/boat-day
